The ceremony featured remarks from senior Army leadership, Kevin Cruse, Mayor of Parsons and Day & Zimmermann executives, who stressed the importance of the shared commitment from the Army and industry/D&Z to develop a reliable, ready, and resilient munitions supply. This commitment to strengthening domestic production capacity is essential to maintaining readiness and sustaining the warfighter.

The Parsons ammunitions plant was a major supplier of ammunitions to the armed forces during WWII. It was also a major employer in Southeast Kansas. Many local residents helped in the war effort in that plant.
