Andrea Marie Combs, 51, Galena, died at 10:10 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2024, following a hardfought battle with cancer.
Born June 18, 1973 in Joplin, Mo., Andrea was the daughter of Bill Ray Combs and Charla Jean (Himes) Combs. She was a lifelong resident of Galena, where she graduated from Galena High School with the Class of 1991.
Andrea worked in medical registration at Mercy Hospital, Ortho 4-States, and Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas, and was a member of Trinity Apostolic Faith Church of Galena. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family, whether it be crafting, serving as an Assistant Troop Leader while her daughter was in Girl Scouts, spending time with grandkids, or just getting together for a good ole’ family cookout.
Andrea was preceded in death by one brother, Doug Combs.
Survivors include her parents, Bill and Charla Combs; one daughter, Emily Matthews (husband, Michael) of Riverton; one son, Jared Combs of Galena; three grandchildren, Braxton Matthews, Michenna Matthews, and Kaiden Matthews; one nephew, Douglas “DJ” Combs, Jr. and one niece, Cecilia Ballard (husband, Chris) all of Galena; and her children, Daryn Combs, Riot Benjamin, and Carson Ballard and her partner, Shannon Richardson..
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena, officiated by Pastor Brad Price. Visitation will take place Friday, July 12 from 6-7 p.m. at Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena. Following the service arrangements, Andrea will be entrusted to the care of Derfelt Crematory. After cremation, inurnment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery of Galena.
