Charles “Chuck” Buddy Wahpepah, 68, Quapaw, Okla. died Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Integris Miami Hospital in Miami, Okla..
Born September 22, 1955 in Pawnee, Okla. Chuck was the son of Billy Joe and Monta Lee (Rogers) Wahpepah. He lived in Quapaw most of his life and served in the U.S. Army. He worked construction and for Carter’s Fiberglass in Quapaw. He was a member of Seneca – Cayuga Tribe, Peoria Tribe, Shawnee Tribe, Sac Fox Tribe and Kickapoo Tribe.
He was preceded by a daughter, Kela Wahepah and his parents.
Chuck is survived by four daughters, Tisha Wahpepah of Baxter Springs, Tara Wilson of Texas, Misty Frediu of Lousiana and Lori Beaty of Grove, Okla. One son, Chance Levi Wahpepah of Missouri; four brothers, David Davis of Quapaw, Okla., Troy Wahpepah of Carson City, Nevada, Dallas Rencho Wahpepah of Oakland, Calif. and Sandino Chocko Wahpepah of Oakland, Calif.; three sisters, Billye Conrad and husband David of Commerce, Okla., Kim Meeks and husanad Wayne of Miami, Okla. and DeAnn Wahpepah of Carson City, Nevada. 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 7, at Quapaw Tribal Building, southeast of Quapaw, Okla. Rev. Geoff Buffalo officiated. Jeremy Olsen will conduct Native American Rites.
Interment will be in Peoria Tribal Cemetery, southeast of Quapaw, Okla. Kobe Davis, Shawn Franklin, Adam Conrad, Nathan LaFalier, Dåavid Conrad and Raymond Sharp served as pallbearers. Matt Layman, Pepe Sharp, Charlie Abernathy and Harel Bringinggood served as honorary pallbearers.
Military rites were conducted by American Legion Post #147 Funeral Detail.
