Debra Ann Gowens, 73, Galena, died suddenly Thursday morning, November 20, 2025 at her home.
Born April 29, 1952 in Joplin, Missouri, Debra was the daughter of Floyd Adams and Mildred Merrill. She was a lifetime resident of Galena and attended Galena schools.
She was a homemaker. At one time, she worked for her brother at Kennedy Cleaners in Joplin, Mo., for about year and half. She dedicated her life and her love to her children and grandchildren Debra and Leon Gowens were united in marriage June 1, 1968 in Joplin. Mo. He survives.
Debra was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jeffery Gowens; five brothers, Clyde Adams, Bobby Adams, Floyd Dean Adams, Donny Tipton and Jerry Tipton; and four sisters, Phyllis Wilder, Norma Hignite and Carol Hicks and Vicki Adams who died in infancy.
Additional survivors include three sons, Doug Gowens (Kristy) of Galena, Justin Adams and Dustin Adams, both of Joplin, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Katelin Thomas (Trey), Kaycee Gowens, Jakob Gowens, Hailey Harper (Zack), Carressa Jensen, Jesse Adams, Maycee Adams, Sarayea Morey and Daxton Adams; and seven greatgrandchildren, Bentley, Cooper, Zaiden, Kamryn, Ayden, Sophia and Kensley.
She was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home in Galena for cremation. No services are planned at this time.
