Edwin Kibel Sr., 80, Quapaw, Okla.

Edwin ”Ed” Fay Kibel, Sr., 80, Quapaw, Okla., died Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo.

Born October 10, 1944, in Fort Morgan, Colo., Ed was the son of Frederick C. and Ida Virginia (Packer) Kibel. He had lived in Quapaw, Okla. and Baxter Springs most of his life and graduated from Quapaw High School in 1962. He had worked as a dock man for Yellow Freight in Baxter Springs for over 20 Years. He had also worked at Jackson Jordan Company in Baxter Springs and Selas Corporation in Baxter Springs. Ed enjoyed doing woodworking.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by three brothers, Eugene Kibel, Earl Kibel and Elton Kibel.

Survivors include his wife Jo Ann (Oltman) Kibel of the home; three sons, Fred Marquardt of Riverton; Edwin Fay Kibel, Jr. of Baxter Springs and Robert Blizzard of Tulsa, Okla.; two daughters, Meletha Walters and husband Gerald of Frisco, Texas and Brenda Norton and husband Dennis of Lafayette, Tenn.; brother, Ernie Kibel of Baxter Springs; seven grandchildren, Megan Gardner, Michael Marquardt, Lily Kibel, Zachary Norton, Nicholas Blizzard, Laren Bostick and Rylan Blizzard and nine great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, at Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, Okla. Rev. Audie Tash will officiate. Interment will be in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami, Okla. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be Frances Pliler, Carolyn Simpson, Dianna Smith, Halene Mate, Amber Chandler, Tressa Shapp, Nora Mate, Mary Mate, Tamara Curry, Barbara Haralson and Judy Kibel.
