Elizabeth Ann Watkins (Martin), 69, Joplin, Mo., a beloved mother, sister, and friend, died peacefully October 30, 2024, at 4:48 a.m.
Born October 19, 1955, Liz was known for her kindness, infectious laughter, and boundless generosity.
Survivors include her son, Noah Watkins; her father, David Martin; her brother, Rick Martin; nephew Kingston; many cherished cousins also survive.
A dedicated nurse who served her community in countless ways, Liz graduated with honors from Pittsburg State University and dedicated her life to healthcare, bringing warmth and compassion to every patient, family member, and colleague.
Liz was deeply passionate about her family, her friends, and her community. An avid collector of antiques and Christmas decorations, she celebrated each holiday with elaborate décor, heartwarming meals, and organized gatherings that brought joy to all. Her home was a haven for animals, especially her beloved dog, Sarge, who was her constant companion and a true member of the family. Liz supported several patriotic and healthcare-related charities, was always ready to lend an ear to friends, share a laugh, or offer help to those in need. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the love she gave so freely.
Memorial services will be held November 9 at 10 a.m. at the Derfelt funeral Home of Columbus, 132 E. Pine Street in Columbus.
