Elmer E. Walker, 86, Galena, died Thursday, December 28, 2023 at his home. Elmer was born October 19, 1937 in Vinita, Okla., Elmer was the son of the late Paul Walker and Lula Finnell Walker.
After Elmer graduated high school, he signed up to serve in the Marines. He made a career of being a truck driver for over 42 years, owning and operating his own company for most of those years.
Elmer was a member of Fraternal order of Eagles, Lodge #2410; American Legion Post 206 in Baxter Springs, and the former Elks Lodge Post 677 of Galena.
Elmer and Patricia Anthony were united in marriage January 9, 2007, she preceded him in death in June of 2020. In addition to his wife and parents, Elmer was preceded in death by his sons, Troy and Tony Walker; two sisters and one brother.
Survivors include daughters Gayla Woodcock and husband, Les of Galena, Londa Sofia and husband, Tom of Joplin, Missouri and Robin Frazier and husband, Donny of Purcell Missouri; 10 grandchildren, 22 greatgrandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends also survive.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
