Jeffery Scott “Jeff” Sappington, 58, of Quapaw, Okla., died Friday, September 15, 2023 in Baxter Springs.
Born January 4, 1965 in Claremore, Okla., Jeff was the son of Bill and Agnes (Ellick) Sappington. He had lived in the Quapaw area all his life and graduated from Quapaw High School class of 1983 and attended N.E.O. A&M College in Miami, Okla. for two years. He was a member of Shawnee and Delaware Tribes. He worked as a rancher for Twin Rivers Grain and Cattle and was a truck driver for Green Country Soil in Miami, Okla. He was a member of Spring River Indian Baptist Church.
Jeff was preceded in death by his father. Jeff is survived by two sons, Newton Sappington of Quapaw, Okla. and Coltin Sappington (wife Ashley) of Miami, Okla.; his mother Agnes Sappington of Quapaw, Okla.; two brothers, Terry Sappington of Wyandotte, Okla. and David Sappington of Quapaw, Okla; sisters, Susan Hollenbeck of Quapaw, Okla. and Sally Martin of Park Hill, Okla. and granddaughter, Amia Sappington.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 22 at Lewis Shawnee Cemetery in White Oak, Okla. Reverend Geoff Buffalo will officiate. Shawn Ellick will conduct Native American Rites. Taylor Warner, Hunter Sappington, Preston Hollenbeck, Shawn Moore, David Eby and Isiah Buzzard will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 p.m. unitl 8 p.m.. at his mother’s home, 62951 E 50 Road, in Quapaw, Okla.
