Jimmy “Bart” Lee Simpson, 57 of Pittsburg, died at Ascension Via Christi at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, October 17, 2023. Born in Baxter Springs, September 15, 1966, Jimmy was the son of Dennis Lee Simpson and Loma Ann (Olds) Simpson. He attended schools in Weir and Cherokee, before graduating from Galena Kansas High School, and began taking technical courses for HVAC and welding.
Jimmy worked at Superior Industries International, and then worked for O’Reilly Auto Parts in Pittsburg, Jimmy loved being outside. From smoking meats, fishing, riding his motorcycle, to building and fixing anything he could get his hands on. He was a lifetime member of ABATE, a motorcycle advocacy club. He also enjoyed bowling, playing darts, and handling his guns.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Lee Simpson.
Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Chrystale Harvey (husband, Kevin) of Topeka; his son Corey Simpson of Washington State; his mother, Loma Ann Simpson of Pittsburg; his half-sister Tammy DeSilva, and grandson Conner Simpson.
A graveside service for Jimmy will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 21, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Galena. Marty DeWitt will officiate. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
