Lois Purcell, 90, Webb City, Mo.

Lois Jane Purcell, 90, Webb City, Mo., a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died November 3, 2023 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo.

Born November 23, 1932, in Zincville, Okla., Lois was the daughter of Eli and Jewell (Young) Davis.

She was known for her loving nature, generous spirit, and courageous heart.

Lois was the proud alumnus of Baxter Springs High School, where she was known for her bright smile and warm personality. After graduation, she embarked on a career in the service industry, working as a waitress in her early years. She then transitioned to NutraLite, where she served the company faithfully for 17 years until her retirement. Her dedication and hard work were admired by her colleagues and friends.

Lois was a woman of faith and was actively involved in her church. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she lived it out daily through her love and service to others. Her generous heart was reflected in the countless ways she gave of her time and resources to those in need.

Lois was a loving mother to her five children: Wayne Murphy, Michael Carey (Beth), Roland Gill, Priscilla, and Sheila Murphy. She was also a caring sister to her brother, Parker Davis. Her family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She was a pillar of strength and a source of unconditional love for her several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as her extended family.

In her leisure time, Lois enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a firm believer in the importance of family ties and made sure to nurture these relationships. Her family gatherings were filled with laughter, love, and the delicious food she loved to prepare.

In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by husbands, James O’Neil and Ed Purcell and a sister, Carolyn Rowe.

Family will receive friends today, November 7 from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the Parker Chapel. Graveside services will take place Wednesday, November 8 at 10 a.m. at the Webb City Cemetery, Webb City, Missouri.
