Phyllis Charlene Brown (Sweet), 85, Galena, died peacefully Wednesday, December 20, 2023 surrounded by her family.
Born May 3, 1938, Phyllis was the daughter of Charles (Bud) and Fern Sweet of Galena. They preceded her in death.
Phyllis was oldest of five children inclduding Charlie and wife Betty Sweet; Judy and husband Chuck Stapleton; Mary and husband Bob Gilbert and Kenny Sweet all of Galena.
Phyllis attended Galena High School and graduated in 1956 as the Valedictorian of her class. She was a Majorette with the Galena band.
She married Ernie Brown of Greenwood, Missouri August 11, 1956. They were together 60 years. He preceded her in death September 16, 2016.
They had three children, Cindy Brown of Joplin, Missouri, Steve and wife Pam Brown of Daphne, Alabama, Doug Brown of Asbury, Missouri. Seven grandchildren, Kristal Slaughter of Joplin, Missouri, Karli and husband Blake Engelage of Joplin, Kyler and Krystal Baker of Webb City, Missouri, Chastin and wife Candice of Webb City, Chelsey and husband Jonathan Stevenson of Colorado, Zachary and wife Lydia Brown of Daphne, Alabama, Spencer and fiancé Elizabeth of Georgia. Thirteen great grandchildren, Radley, Princetyn, Lillian, Blakely, Shea, Calyn, Addi, Chasney, Piper, Cooper, Olivia, Charlotte, and Lanie. Three great-great grandchildren, Zayden, Wesson, Laney, and lots of nieces and nephews and great and great-great.
She was a homemaker and loved her family more than anything. She will be missed dearly. Her wishes were to be cremated and there be no services, so we are honoring her wishes.
