Raymond Andrews, Joplin, Mo.

Raymond Willard Andrews 61 of Joplin, Mo., died Saturday, September 16, 2023 in his sleep after suffering from a stroke. Raymond Born June 22, 1962, Raymond was the son of Bill and Norma Andrews.

Raymond attended grade school at the Scammon Elementary school up to the sixth grade and then attended Central Junior High for middle school and Columbus Unified High School where he graduated in May of 1980.

For several years Ray was a caregiver to his grandfather Willard Andrews which he enjoyed doing up until the passing of his grandfather. He then went to work at Sugarcreek Packaging in Frontenac. He then worked at Gilster Marylee Corp in Joplin Mo. where he was still working up to his passing.

When Ray wasn’t watching the Kansas City Chiefs or the Kansas City Royals play, he was always bragging about his niece and nephews and showing off pictures of them. Even though he didn’t play sports in school, if you had asked him questions about football or baseball he could tell you anything you would want to know about his two favorite teams or any team.

Ray is survived by his sister Tricia Woods of Pittsburg; niece Morgan (Levi) Ross of Carthage, Mo.; nephews Zack Woods and Nathan Woods, both Pittsburg, and Aaron Woods Wise, of Virginia; great nephew Carter Striplin-Woods of Pittsburg and one great niece Breyiah Harris of Arkansas; cousins Sheila (Steve) Krewson of Altamont, Randy Miller of Pittsburg, Linda (Cal) Vandenberg of Chicago, Ill. Aunt Wilma Stenberg of Webb City, Mo; Uncles Bud (Fredia) Andrews, Bruce Andrews and Larry Andrews all of Columbus; many more cousins on the Andrews side; in addition to his lifelong partner David Baker and daughters also survive.

In addition to his parents Ray was preceded in death by his Maternal Grandparents David and Ada Brenner, Paternal Grandparents Willard, and Ginny Andrews, Aunts Bonnie Webb, Betty Guison, Evelyn Miller. Paula Andrews and Wanda Andrews; and Uncle Bob Andrews and three cousins.

A Celebration of Life will take place at the Presbyterian Church located at 403 N 6th Ave, in Scammon, October 14 at 2 p.m.

Donations may be made to Angels Among Us in honor of his father Bill Andrews who passed away in January of 2009 of cancer.
