Ronald “Ronnie” Kenton Rife, 77, Oswego, died peacefully at his home September 8, 2024 after a lengthy illness.
Born August 8, 1947, Ronnie was the son of Kenton and Ruth Rife. He grew up on his family farm south of Oswego, and he was a 1965 graduate of Labette County High School.
Ronnie and Linda Jane Wilson were united in marriage September 4, 1969. Ronnie worked for MKT Railroad for over 20 years in Texas, Oklahoma, and Livestock Market as a fieldman and order buyer for McKee Livestock, and he was also a representative for Superior Livestock.
Ronnie had a love for sports and poker. He spent many years playing softball and golf. Ronnie especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Stanley and David.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; two sons, John and Jeff of Oswego; three grandchildren, Wil Rife, Rachel Rife, and Erika Weston of Welch, Okla.; two sisters, Susan Bates and Karla Cook of Oswego; sister-in-law Coralee (Don)Evans of Topeka; brother-in-law Russell (Judy) Wilson; sister-in-law Joann Rife of Phoenix, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home of Oswego.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 13 at Oswego Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to Oswego Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
