Virginia May Allen, 74, of Oswego died October 29, 2023, surrounded by her family. Virginia was the ninth of 12 children born to Ruth Ashley and Alfred Donaldson October 20, 1949. She was born in Alpena Pass, Arkansas. The family relocated to Oswego in her youth. She graduated from Labette County High School in 1967.
Virginia worked at Labette County Medical Center for more than 25 years. The longest as an emergency room nurse. She earned her RN / Nursing degree in 1995. After retiring from LCMC, she worked for Parsons State Hospital and Training Center. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and playing the slots.
Virginia and Kenny Allen were married from 1967 – 1997. They had three children born to that union. They all survive: Ken Allen (Kiersten) of Louisburg; Eric Allen (Marya) of Udall; and Angel Housley (Tony) of Parsons. Siblings: brother, Hugh Donaldson: five sisters: Nadene Henderson; Mary Armstrong; Freda Roach; Rita Holt; and Carolyn Elmborg; 12 grandchildren: Bryanna Shock; Krysanna Raevsky; Kaelee Allen; Abby Housley; Dakota Housley; Maraya Allen; Kyle Allen; Erica Allen; Gabby Housley; Kaden Allen; Angie Allen; and Faya Allen. Four Great-Grandchildren: Preston Shock; Mark Allen-Land; Deegan Shock; and Logan Raevsky also survive.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters; Louise Oberzan and Rose Becker; and three brothers: Gene Donaldson, Johnny Donaldson, and George Donaldson.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home, Oswego.
