Woodrow Greenfeather, Grove, Okla.

Woodrow Allen Greenfeather, 51, Grove, Okla., died Friday, March 1, 2024 at his home. 

Born October 10, 1972, in Miami, Okla., Woodrow was the son of Jim and Gloria Jean (Bishop) Greenfeather. He had lived in Grove for the past 15 years moving from Ottawa County. He graduated from Picher – Cardin High School with the class of 1991. 

Woodrow served in the U.S. Army during Desert Storm in Afghanistan and in Iraq. He was a volunteer fireman for Hickory Grove and Commerce Fire Departments. He served as a police officer for the Eastern – Shawnee Tribe, was former Police Chief at Fairland, Okla., Assistant Police Chief at Quapaw, Okla., and had worked at Chetopa Police Department . He had also worked for Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office as a jailer and dispatcher and MHTC at Willow Crest Hospital. Had served as a Fire Instructor at Oklahoma State University, was a peer mentor at Wounded Warrior Project and Fire Arms instructor for the NRA. 

In addition to his parents, Woodrow was preceded in death by a brother, Nathan Line. 

Survivors include a daughter Rebecca Wood and husband Thomas of Baxter Springs and two sons, Dakota Greenfeather and Isaac Greenfeather and fiancé Isabella Peal all of Grove, Okla.; three grandchildren, James Wood, Benjamin Wood and Abigail Wood also survive. 

Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. , Wednesday, March 6 at the Quapaw Tribal Building, southeast of Quapaw, Okla. Rev. Sam Smith will officiate and Native American Rites will be conducted by Jeremy Olson and Geoff Buffalo. Interment will be in NEO Memorial Veterans Cemetery in North Miami, Okla. 

Military Rites will be conducted by Grove Veterans Ritual Team and Fireman Rites will be conducted by Jered Thornburg. James Wood, Ben Wood, Chris Hardison, Vince Gonzalez, Dakota Cox and Joey William will serve as pallbearers. Woodrow will lie in state at Quapaw Tribal Building.
