James Edward “Jim” Mathes, 85, rural Oswego, died Thursday afternoon, April 25, 2024, at his home. Born August 23, 1938 in Tulsa, Okla., Jim was the son of Paul Edward and Marjorie (Gamble) Mathes.

Joseph Wayne Bilke, 49, Baxter Springs, died March 19, 2024 at his home in Baxter Springs. Joseph was born March 10, 1974.

Kevin Scott Carpenter, 53, Galena, died Monday, April 29, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Mo. Born October 7, 1970, in Kansas City, Mo., Kevin was the son of Larry and Doris (Bouyear) Carpenter.

Nancy Ellen Bradrick, 58, Pittsburg, Kansas, died April 25, 2024, at her home following an illness. Born July 6, 1965, in Pittsburg, Nancy was the daughter of William G.

Wayne Lewis Ralston, 76, Galena died unexpectedly Sunday, December 10, 2023 in his home. Born in Boston, Massachusetts March 9, 1947, Wayne was the son of Hance “Larry” and Henrietta “Etta” (Pirie) Ralston.

Sandra Kay Potter (Isbell), 72, Galena, died Friday, April 26, 2024. Born November 18, 1951, Sandra was the daughter of David and Catherine Isbell.

He had lived most of his life in Picher, Grove and Miami, Okla. He served four years in the United States Air Force.

John L. Meriwether, 88, Columbus and Prairie Village, died Friday, April 26, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. John had received treatment from the University of Kansas Medical Center for the past year for pancreatic cancer and was proud to have been a participant in a clinical trial, hopeful that his participation might help future cancer patients.

Wilma S. Black, 97, formerly of Hermitage, Pa., died April 21, 2024, at Galena Nursing Center in Galena.
