Titans down Rams advance to finals

The Columbus Titans advanced to the Championship game of the 31st Annual Lancer Classic with a win over Riverton, 5848, Thursday, at Southeast High School. The teams were close throughout the first eight minutes with the Titans holding a one-point edge, 15-14, when the buzzer sounded.

Lady Titans breeze to win

The CUHS Lady Titans breezed through their second round, consolation game against Baxter Spring, Friday afternoon, 55-27, in the 31st Annual Lancer Classic in Cherokee. Columbus won the tip off and cruised to a 20-6 first-quarter lead.

Titans runner-up at Lancer Classic

The Columbus Titans came up one win short of a championship title in the 31st Annual Lancer Classic, Saturday at Southeast High School. The Parsons Vikings stepped in and snatched the title in a 5450 win.

Titans take second, earn Sportsmanship Award

The Columbus Titans placed second at the 29th Annual Eureka Invitational, Saturday. Senior, Kayden Cox and sophomore, Korbyn Newberry, took first place in their individual weight classes to lead the nine-man team to the runner-up position with 108 team points over larger teams and schools.

Powerlifters place in virtual meet

The Columbus Titan Powerlifting Team participated in a virtual lifting meet hosted by Wichita East High School, January 14. Lady Titan Junior, Lizzy Welch placed first in squat lift and third in bench press.

Burdette joins 1000 point club

Southeast Lancer Senior, Cade Burdette, scored 44 points, Friday, to lead his team to an 83-31 win over Marmaton Valley. His final tally included 12 threes for the game pushing his career total over 1,000 points for the four-year starter.

Charity points seal Lady Ram victory

The Riverton Lady Rams used a 25-6 advantage at the charity stripe to take a hard fought win over the Columbus Lady Titans, 39-33, in the first round of the 31st Annual Lancer Classic, Tuesday, in Cherokee. The teams battle neck and neck through the first three quarters.

Lancer Classic results

The first round of the 31st Annual Lancer Classic has been completed at Southeast High School in Cherokee. The boys took the court, Monday, with Columbus beating Neodesha, 80-29 and Riverton besting Baxter Springs, 53-41.

Karnes, Crispino to HOF

Two local coaches were recently inducted into the Kansas Association of Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame. Don Karnes, Baxter Springs, and Frank Crispino, St. Mary’s-Colgan, display the plaques and bats they received during the ceremony, January 12 in Manhattan.
