Titan Track and Field recognized

The talented class of Titan Senior Track and Field athletes were recognized during the May 5, Titan Booster Club Awards Ceremony at Titan Stadium. Several records were broken and set during the four-year tenure of these Titan Thinclads.

Tennis begins Tuesday

The Lady Titan Tennis Team will begin their 2021 schedule Tuesday with a trip to Labette County High School. First serve will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, the squad will be back on the road to Chanute for matches with Labette County, Iola, Neodesha, and Chanute. Start time is slated for 3 p.m.

CAY Soccer forms due Sunday

Columbus Area Youth Soccer Officials final notice to turn in registration forms for the 2021 season. Sunday will be the last day for sign-ups. Forms should be taken to the Red Iron Activity Center. Forms are also available at the center for sign-ups.

Jr. High volleyball meeting tonight

Central Junior High students interested in playing volleyball this year are invited to bring their parents to an informational meeting tonight at 6 p.m. in the New Central Gymnasium. Practice will begin Monday, from 3:10 p.m. to 5 p.m. Games start August 31 in Frontenac at 5:30 p.m.

Titan Baseball, Tennis recognized

Lynn Shallenburger, Raef Gonzalez, Eli Touchton and Cameron Draeger represented the 2021 Senior Class as members of the Columbus Unified High School Titan Basketball Team. They were recognized during the Annual Titan Booster Club Sports Awards Ceremony, May 5 at Titan Stadium.

Gordon recognized by USD 247 Board

Ken Gordon was recognized during the USD 247 Board of Education meeting August 9. The board recognized Mr. Gordon for his countless hours of volunteer work to maintain the Lancer Baseball and Lady Lancer Softball fields.

2020-21 Student athletes recognized

Senior members of the Columbus Unified High School Boy’s Basketball 2020-21 Team were recognized during the Annual Titan Booster Club Sports Awards Ceremony, May 5 at Titan Stadium. Mike Thomas, Hector Fontanez, Lynn Shallenburger, and Ethan Glover were present for the event.

Chamber golf tourney planned September 19

The date for the annual Chamber Golf Tournament to be held at the Brush Creek Golf and Grill is September 19. Flights will be determined by the number of entries but tournament Chairman Mike Carpino expects three flights for men and two for women.

2021 Titan Golfers recognized Junior Golf mixed scramble winners

The Columbus Junior Golf Program hosted a mixed scramble, Thursday, at the Brush Creek Golf Course. Winners were announced for three flights, Championship, A, and B. Earning top honors in the Championship Flight were Kanyen Smith and Jeremy Smith.

Titan Football meeting Sunday

The CUHS Football Team will have a parent meeting, Sunday at 3 p.m. at the high school gymnasium. This is not a mandatory meeting. Head Coach, Blake Burns, will be on hand to provide information on the upcoming 2021 season.
