CNC announces all league selections

The Crawford-Neosho-Cherokee League announced their selections for the 2025 All-CNC League Volleyball honors.Columbus Senior, Katelyn Draeger, represented the Lady Titan Team as an all league honorable mention choice.

Frontenac sweeps CCCJ League games

Frontenac came out on top of a CCCJL Eighth Grade Girls A Basketball battle, Tuesday, holding off the Columbus Lady Titans for a 23-18 win to complete a three-game sweep of their visitors.The game was close throughout.
The Columbus Lady Titan Wrestlers wrapped up their season with a second place finish at their home tournament, Saturday. Raelee Engroff took first in the 115-pound weight class to lead the Lady Titans to a 127 point total. Carthage, Mo. was the tournament winner with 134 team points. Team members are: Heiyla Shelton, Kinsley Rader, Jenna Sutton, Cora Rider, Lauryn Flood, Raelee Engroff, Tyler Kirk, Tymber Newberry, Brooklyn Danley, and Abigail Luna. Lady Titan, Raelee Engroff, took first place in the Columbus Wrestling Tournament, Saturday at the Columbus Unified High School Gymnasium. Engroff won her first two matches in the 115- pound weight class by fall then took the championship match with a 7-1 decision.

Football contest winners

The entries in this week’s football contest found it of the most difficult of the year. The least missed was three and some entries missed half of the games.However, many of the usual winners were again at the top of the list.

Labette Co. has historic state playoff

Labette County (9-2), east second seed, topped Ottawa (7-4), east third seed, in their Kansas Class 4A sectional win on their home field, Friday. The historical win for the Grizzlies advances them to the sub-state level of the playoff with four teams remaining in the bracket.

Lady Titan Basketball week three action

The Columbus Junior High Lady Titan Basketball Team had a busy third week of action with three games on the schedule. Monday the team traveled to Pittsburg to play at St. Mary’s-Colgan then returned home to host Girard and Riverton.

Bowman, Carter win big in Columbus Tournament

Blaze Bowman and Cam Carter had big wins in the Columbus Wrestling Tournament, Saturday, at the CUHS Gymnasium. Bowman started the day with his toughest win by fall in the 115-pound A weight class.
