Weather alters practice schedules

The weather is dictating the practice schedule for the Columbus Titan Football Team as the start time for their opening session was moved to 6:30 p.m. last night from the usual 3:30 p.m. start time.

Volleyball hits the court first

The Lady Titan Volleyball Team will be the first of the fall extracurricular activities to take the court/ field for the 2025 season. A jamboree August 28 will be the first competitive meeting for Columbus against the Labette County and Humboldt Squads in Altamont.

Farmers COOP hosting DBLO golf fundraiser

The Farmers Cooperative Association, Columbus, Baxter Springs, Chetopa, and Galena, is hosting the FCA Classic Golf Tournament Saturday at the Columbus Brush Creek Golf Course and Grill.

Titan Football preps for 2025 season

The Columbus Titan Football Team prepped throughout the summer for the 2025 season including hosting the Emporia State University Football Staff for a clinic, July 18, at the Central School Soccer Pitch.Cherryvale, Neodesha, Parsons, Coffeyville, and Labette County joined the Titans for the workout.

Cheerleaders sought for CJHS

Columbus Junior High School Seventh and Eighth Graders interested in cheering for the 2025-26 school year are invited to a Cheer meeting, Friday at 3 p.m. in room 108 of the Columbus Unified High School Building.The meeting will last approximately 30 minutes.

Parent meetings set at high school

The Columbus Unified High School Volleyball and Football Coaching Staffs have set their pre-season parents meetings for the first week of school.Wednesday, football parents are asked to meet in the high school gym lobby at 5 p.m.

Final sign-up for mini football

The final sign-up for Columbus Mini Titan Football is Thursday, 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.This will be the final opportunity to play tackle football.Practice will officially start August 18 in order to get in three, unpadded practices, before the Lawnchair Scrimmage, August 23.

August 21 last day for soccer registrations

August 21 is the last day to register for the Columbus Area Youth Soccer League.Columbus students ages three and up are eligible.Forms and fees may be filled out and returned during the USD 493 Open Houses at Park School and Central School tonight.
