Large turnout at the Columbus Chamber ‘Trunk-or-Treat’

Hundreds of citizens recently showed up in Columbus over the weekend. A Halloween Walk and Trunk-Or-Treat event was held along Pine Street on the square during the holiday, thanks to the Columbus Chamber of Commerce’s efforts and resources. Lines were already forming before the 4 p.m.

Response for firefighter fundraiser overwhelming

Tina Creech said her sister Jessica was overwhelmed with gratitude at the response and support they received at the Baxter Springs Fire Department Auxiliary fundraiser for the Malachi Brown this past Saturday.

VFW dinner for veterans Friday

A baked ham dinner will be served Friday, November 12, at the Columbus VFW post 1372 beginning at 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. All veterans and their spouses may eat free. All others are welcome with a donation of $7. The menu will include baked ham, roasted potatoes, green beans and dinner roll.

We made it through another month and might I add it was a very good one. Of course, the minute we changed the calendar to October we are looking forward to the Columbus Day Celebration. We were not disappointed this year. The weather was great and a great attendance.

The holidays are coming but your exercise and diet routines do not have to change with it. It may seem, at times, that the holidays cause changes in our exercise and diet routines. But by making a few modifications we can continue to be physically active and eat healthy even during the holidays.

Southeast High School had three students participate in rodeo events at the Lucky J. Arena in Carthage, Mo. over the weekend. Quintonn Lunsford, Eli Pritchett and Wyatt Scales are all members of the Missouri High School Rodeo Association.
