At the recent Horse Banquet youth received awards for their accomplishments. Ezekial Paxson was recognized for Junior Showmanship. Airauana Sharp was recognized at the recent Horse Banquet. She was honored for Champion Pony and Intermediate Showmanship.

Halloween walk planned Sunday

The Columbus Chamber of Commerce retail committee will be hosting the Halloween Walk on Sunday evening, October 31. The walk will be held on Pine St. on the square from 4 p.m.. to 5:30 p.m. Children can come onto Pine from Kansas St. or Pennsylvania to visit the booths.

Columbus Unified High School will be honoring veterans November 11. There will be a breakfast held at 8:15 a.m. in the Columbus Unified High School cafeteria on that date for all veterans, current servicemen and a guest.

Fundraiser for injured firefighter set

A fundraiser chicken and noodle dinner is planned Saturday, November 6 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Proceeds will go to assist the family of Malachi Brown. Brown was injured while fighting a structure fire in Baxter Springs.
