Results are in for the Dairy Cow classes held during the Cherokee County Fair. Kysen Sommer, Spring Valley Sparklers was the Grand Champion in Intermediate Fitting and Showing. Trenton Lacen, Spring Valley Sparklers, was the Reserve Champion.

What a difference a month makes in many ways. In June we had a total of 10.4 inches of rain recorded in the little frog rain gauge. I really thought the frog might croak when there was 7.8 inches total in him on June 29 and 30. The frog didn’t but some of the flowers did.

The Cherokee County Democrat Party will hold their monthly meeting, Thursday, August 12 at 7 p.m. at Scammon City Park at 5 th and Keith. All Democrats and like mind citizens are invited to attend. Please dress comfortable and bring lawn chairs, hopefully it will be a cool evening.

UGH! Moving schools can be hard! If you have ever moved schools you could probably relate to Mimi Chan. “Who is she?” you might ask. She is the main character in the book Full Cicada Moon by Marilyn Hilton. This book is about a girl who is both Japanese and African American.

Results in the 4-H arts and crafts and fine arts classes have been announced. Senior Grand Champion in arts and crafts was awarded to Sylas Stone, Glittering Stones. Senior Reserve Grand Champion was awarded to Dusti Henderson, Spring Valley Sparklers.
