Fair Buddies program seeks participants

Do you have a child who is five years old or above who loves animals? Consider participating in Fair Buddies. Fair Buddies is geared to youth who have never shown animals at the fair. They will have an opportunity to show a goat and compete in the ring with the guidance of an experienced 4H member.

Mercy remembers the Joplin tornado

Angie Saporito reported at the May 18 meeting of the Columbus Mercy Auxiliary that Joplin Mercy Hospital would hold memorial activities on the anniversary of the Joplin Tornado. T-shirts commemorating the event would be given to all auxiliary members. The meeting was held at St. Rose Parish Hall.

Wildcat 4H team places first at competition

Wildcat District 4-H members, Raylan Elsworth, Damien Evans and Zailey Burrow, recently competed in the Kansas Wildlife Habitat Education Program (WHEP) Competition. The Wildcat District junior team received first place.

Riverton Elementary School recognized their Accelerated Readers at a ceremony before school let out for summer. Rebecca Webb had 447.3 points, Caleb Webb had 364.2 points, Grant Webb had 309.9 points, Sean Hilderbrand score 228.4 points and Kade Hutto scored 203.8 points.

Students in Park Elementary Kindergarten classes (above and below) held a graduation ceremony before the end of the school year. Each student got to wear an “official” mortarboard and received a Kindergarten diploma.
