This is the first year The Kansas American Legion Post #206 has sponsored a student to attend the Cadet Law Enforcement Academy. Liam Tyree, a sophomore from Riverton High school has received this honor. Liam was chosen for his ambition to go into Law Enforcement.

USD 493 Elementary Track Friday

The Columbus USD 493 Elementary Track and Field Meet will be held Friday at the Central School Track. All grades, kindergarten through sixth will participate in the event.

Twenty-four hour service seven days a week can be found at Pete’s Convenience Store and gas station in Baxter Springs. The station has been open for around six years and has been members of the Baxter Chamber of commerce during that time.

A large crowd turned out for the Cowtown Days celebration in Baxter springs Friday, April 30 and Saturday, May 1. The event kicked off Friday night with the Cowtown Idol competition. Fair weather provided those in attendance with a pleasant musical experience.

A Columbus Unified High School student has been named a Governor’s Scholar. Avery Campbell, daughter of Todd and Susan Campbell, granddaughter of Bob and Mary Soper and Craig and Gail Campbell, of Columbus has been recognized by Kansas Governor Laura Kelly as a 2021 Kansas Governor’s Scholar.
