Johnston Public Library ready for summer

Are you ready for summer? We are. Johnston Public Library’s summer programs for 2021 will begin May 24. “Tail and Tales” will include weekly outdoor programs, a summer reading challenge on the Reader Zone app, a children’s safari, and free, weekly take-home craft kits.

The library will be open to the public, with a five person limit, Mondays 3 p.m.-6 p.m. Tuesdays 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursdays 8 a.m.-11 a.m. Browsing, computer appointments and curbside will be available Wednesdays10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursdays 4 p.m.-6 p.m. Fridays 8 a.m.-noon.

The minutes of the regular meeting of the Mayor and the Council of the City of Baxter Springs, March 23, 2021. Russ Harper opened the meeting with prayer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The following council members were present: Younger, DeBeeld, Brown, Dardenne, Chriestenson and Nott.

April’s fireworks cookout a success

The Chamber of Commerce would like to say “Thank you” to all who came out for the April “Fire Up for Fireworks” cookout and to Farmers Co-op for grilling; also to the Columbus Police and Fire Department for their help. The drive through was a great success.

During their April board of directors meeting the Columbus Chamber of Commerce met at the Brush Creek Golf and Grill and enjoyed the outdoor seating. Members included President Sonja Duley, Director Jean Pritchett, Colby Hale, Cherri Chancellor and Laura Lowrey Green.
