County offers diaper program to parents

The Cherokee County Diaper Program is a collaborative program between My Family of Cherokee County and Cherokee County Health Department.The program supplies one package of diapers to individuals who have a completed pamphlet with four signatures from many different activities.

Thinking about doing a Scarecrow for Columbus Day?The Columbus Day committee is preparing for it 26th scarecrow contest to be held during the Columbus Day Festival and Hot Air Balloon Regatta. Last year, visitors to the festival strolled down Maple Street to view some 14 scarecrow creations.

Seven in running for Little Mister, Miss Columbus

The 2024 Little Mr. and Miss Columbus will be crowned the evening of October 11 on the Cherokee County courthouse steps around 5:30 p.m. during the Columbus Day Festival bean feed, sponsored by Commerce Bank. Labette Bank is hosting the Little Mr. and Miss Columbus crowning.

Thanks to the Columbus Public Library, the Quilt Show will once again be held during the Columbus Day Festival.Most every family has a quilt that has been handed down through generations. It is put on a shelf or wrapped for protection and put away.

Farm heritage show returns to CDF

The Farm Heritage Show will be held downtown again during this year’s Columbus Day Festival, thanks to Keith Karsten and Harold Depenbush and their committee members.The Farm Heritage Show will be held on E. Pine down from the intersection of Kansas. Several new things have been added for this year.

‘Revealing Revelation’ Bible study at Pleasant Hill Baptist

A special journey through the book of Revelation, “Revealing Revelation”, where ancient visions meet modern relevance, is planned by Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Beginning September 1 and continuing on the first and third Sundays for 13 weeks, the study will take place at 10:45 a.m.

Hale honored for ten years with Auxiliary

A special award for 10 years of service was presented to Kay Hale at the Columbus Mercy Auxiliary meeting August 20.President Janie Jarrett presented the award thanking Hale for her dedicated service to the Auxiliary.
