We made it through another month and did not have too many oops. Well, at least no major ones.Some days it is a real surprise what I find when I unlock the door and come in. At least once a week I am greeted by a centipede.

While temperatures have for the most part continued to be on the moderate side, there has still been a good turnout at the Columbus City Pool. Temperatures are expected to be much warmer this week, so even more youngsters and adults will likely take advantage of the local pool.

Business, health EXPO 2024 set

The Columbus Chamber of Commerce Business EXPO/Health Fair, 2024 will be letting the public know what is available in Cherokee County and Columbus. Farmers Market with their vendors and food trucks will be moving downtown to Pine St.

Fair armbands will be on sale soon

The Cherokee County Fair is just around the corner, July 23 - 27. That means it is time to purchase armbands in advance to save a few dollars on carnival rides during the week.

Chamber welcomes new member

The Columbus Chamber of Commerce would like to welcome the newest member: Puddle Jumpers Liquor (formally Larry’s Discount Liquor), 707 E. Country Road, owned by Rodney and Susan Oels. (Clay decided to retire, but Terse will continue to be in the store). A ribbon cutting will be held later.

Tourism is Economic Development, although many people do not look at it in that way. Many of our local businesses are dependent on tourism, it keeps their business door open The average visitor to our community will spend $150.00 per day (hotel, food, gas).

Lady Titan Senior, Ava Harman, received the James Roy and Rebecca Eaton Memorial Scholarship  in the amount of $500. The award was presented by Doug and Jan Eaton during the 2024 Columbus Unified High School Senior Awards Ceremony, May 17, in the high school gymnasium. Ava met the minimum GPA of 3.
