Opening night of the All-School Reunion featured dinner at the State Theatre Event Center. The buffet style meal was served under a large banner showcasing past and present school mascots, as well as historic and current photos of Columbus landmarks.
Ezra Graves, son of Cody and Tiffany Graves, has completed the “1,000 Books Before Kindergarten” challenge at Johnston Public Library, Baxter Springs. The challenge is part of a national program to encourage reading in early childhood.
Susan Meissner is one of my favorite authors. Born in San Diego in 1961, she continues to write books that I particularly enjoy reading. Currently, she has written 26: three of these were co-authored for the series “Men of Lancaster County”.
Her latest work is titled “Only the Beautiful”.
Queen and Princess candidates at the Columbus Rodeo await the announcement of the winning candidates during the Columbus Saddle Club Rodeo. Madison Rand was named queen and Annaleigh Stark was named princess.
The Baxter Springs Girl Scouts received a helping hand from American Bank as the bank purchased several cases of Girl Scout Cookies which had gone unsold. The girls then delivered the cookies to the thrift store as a thank-you to the men and women in the department.
