Six band students from Riverton High School have been selected to perform in the Four-State Honor Band at Pittsburg State University on May 4. A record number of students from all over the four-states were nominated by their band directors for seats in these ensembles.

Spaghetti fundraiser at FUMC

A spaghetti dinner fundraiser is planned by the First United Methodist Church. For a suggested donation of $8, diners will receive spaghetti, salad, dessert and a drink. The dinner will be held Wednesday, April 12 from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the church located at 320 W. Maple.

Welch Round-Up Club features several local horse enthusiasts. Several of those youngsters brought home awards for the 2022 season. Competition was fierce since the group has a large number of accomplished riders from around the area.

All members of the Valley of Southeast Kansas Lodge of Perfection are ask to attend the Stated Dinner and Meeting Thursday, April 6, at the Armstrong Masonic Lodge, 3105 North Joplin Street, Pittsburg.

Harold Shideler received his 65 year membership pin and certificate in the AF&AM lodge Tuesday, March 21. Tom Circle, Secretary of Parsons AF&AM #117, presented these to Shideler at his home. There were 15 family members present for the occasion. Shideler became a member of the McCune AF&AM # 232 in 1958. He transferred to Parsons when McCune closed. He filled different chairs and was Past Master twice. He remains a loyal supporter at age 94. Courtesy photo.

A Cinco De Mayo Drive-by Fundraiser is planned by the Mercy Columbus Auxiliary May 5. Members decided to have two soft chicken tacos, sour cream packet, sauce, sopaipillas dessert, bottled water, and a nonalcoholic Margarita packet.
