Most Valuable Player and WOW Award winners were announced following each game of the 2022 Kansas 8U State Baseball Tournament held Saturday on Rockette Field at the Columbus Community Field Ballpark. Game 1 MVPs are Korbin Coomes for Frontenac and Drew Gorman for the Parsons All-Stars.

Bisquit jar classic Victorian piece

This silver on copper “bisquit jar” is a classic Victorian piece. It uses an old spelling for “biscuit,” a British-English term. In present day American English, we would call it a cookie jar. Silver and silver plate were popular in the Victorian era.

WSU announces Spring 2022 Dean’s honor roll

Games, activities return in Freedom Fest celebration

The Columbus Chamber of Commerce would like to encourage you to attend the first Freedom Fest being held by the Columbus Volunteer Fire Department July 9. The Columbus Fire Department came to the Chamber a year and a half ago asking if they could take over the Fourth of July Celebration.

Feed the Farmers serves 140 wheat harvest crews

The agriculture committee of the Columbus Chamber, with the help of Shamrock 4-H members, was able to feed around 140 harvest crews during wheat harvest. The member volunteers served at Farmers Co-op on E.

Make plans to attend EXPO

The retail committee of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce is now taking reservations to book space for the Business EXPO. The theme is “Celebrate the Possibilities” and the event will be held October 20 at the State Theatre Event Center. Set up will be Wednesday, October 19 from noon to 5 p.m.
