What was expected to be a seamless merger between the two ambulance services may end up costing county taxpayers thousands of dollars.
The Cherokee County Ambulance District III, in Baxter Springs, was forced to merge with the District I and District II, (known as the Cherokee County Ambulance Association) agencies when the County Commission voted to discontinue funding District III.
