Instrumental music awards presented at year end concert
Instrumental music awards were presented at the end of year concert. Band director Gae Phillips presented Ava Hulvey with the Merle Evans Award. This is a memorial award that is presented to an outstanding senior. Merle Evans was a famous circus performer and conductor with the Ringling Brothers-Barnum Bailey Circus. He was born in Columbus.
Awards were presented to Columbus High School instrumental musicians at the end of year concert. Gae Phillips, band director, presented Piper Hayes with the award for Most Spirited.

USD493 Band director Gae Phillips presented the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award to CUHS band members Piper Hayes, Morgan Richards and Katelyn Draeger. The award was presented at the Columbus High School Band’s year end concert. This is a National award that is given to seniors for outstanding performance and service.
