Harold Shiedeler, attending the Old Miners Reunion and Fish Fry recalled he was at Big Brutus the last day the shovel operated. He was with Charlie Shirley and Harold’s grandson Traevin Shideler.
Despite the good weather the number of attendees was lower at the Big Brutus old miners fish fry and reunion.
Some blamed the decrease on the lack of publicity and others thought the pandemic had taken it’s toll on the aging coal miners.
One of the regulars at the reunion was Harold Shideler, as he remembered being on Big Brutus the night it shut down.
