A Frisbee’s and Firefighter’s Fundraiser for Malachi Brown was held January 8 at the recently installed disc golf course at Kiwanis Park in Baxter Springs. Brown was a Baxter Springs Firefighter who died from injuries received in a structure fire. Baxter Springs Disc Golf Club president Charles Rector presented a check for $2,685 to Jessica Brown. Construction of a new water tower, to be located in Scammon, was discussed wih Cherokee County Rural Water District 4 Office Manager Laura Atkinson’s meeting with the Cherokee County Commissioners on Monday.
