The earlier stages of demoliton of the VFW building show remnants of the post’s name on the remaining wall. The lot is now empty and will used as a parking lot for Park Elementary School.
A staple of East Avenue for more than fifty years is no more. The building, home of Joe Carter Post 1372 of the VFW, was razed and a gravel lot leveled to accommodate more parking for Park Elementary after the school district purchased the property last year.
