Weir sesquicentennial celebration begins today

Editor’s Note --A special section in today’s News Report tells much of the story of Weir. Most of the material was from the book written by the late Henry Stricklin which he published for the nation’s Bicentennial in 1976.

Two arrested after vehicle pursuit

On September 5, deputies with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver failed to stop and deputies engaged in a pursuit. During the pursuit it became evident that the suspect vehicle was having mechanical issues.
Last year local students decorated the sacks used to pack the lunches for veterans and first responders. This year the event will be a drive through event at the Lions Shack.
