The grand opening ribbon cutting of Tractor Supply in Baxter Springs recently was held in cooperation with the Baxter Springs Chamber of Commerce. Those officiating at the ribbon cutting were Dee Riley, Jessica Moore both from the Chamber. Store manager Alex Villalpano, Assistant Manager Sherine Hankins, Jacob Patterson and Baxter Springs Mayor Kelly Abbott. Alex is the youngest store manager in the company and he was transferred from the Miami, Oklahoma store.

Meals On Wheels Lunch Menu

The 100 block of North Illinois Street was closed early this week while a new line was installed under the street. The job was being handled by CDL Electric from Pittsburg.

The Columbus Fire Department working with the City Public Works department did a controlled burn of the Brush Creek area near Country Road between Vermont and Florida streets on Tuesday. “We are hoping to clean up this area to help with water flow and appearance,” said City Superintendent Randy Coble. The Fire Department back burned the surrounding area before starting the fire in the creek bed.
