SEKAAA recognizes area volunteers

“We just couldn’t do it without them,” said Stacy Dickerhoof, SEKAAA Associate Director. “Last year in Baxter Springs, 86 volunteers contributed 1,138 hours of service. Baxter Springs is a shining example of a community coming together to address a need.

Record rain, hail rips county

Violent heavy rain and hail storms crossed Cherokee County Wednesday evening leaving in their wake an April 15 record 2.83 inches of rain.Roofs and cars were damaged, trees fallen and the community was flooded overnight.It all began just as many people were leaving work.
