Billy Dale “Bill” Himes, 80, of Galena died August 20, 2022 at his home. Born January 10, 1942, in Galena, Bill was the son of Charles and Imogene (Coberly) Himes. They preceded him in death. Bill was also preceded in death by his son, Mark Himes, brother, Ralph Himes, sister, Deborah Collins, grandson, Michael Nuttle, and great-grandson Hudson Anderson. Bill married Flo Gibson-Himes “Abby” June 1 1968 in Joplin, Mo. She survives. He worked as a welder at General Steel, wood worker at Joe Harding. He retired at Economic Security in South Joplin.
In addition to his wife of 54 years, Bill is survived by children, Billy Dale Himes Jr., Tammy Whited-Himes (spouse, Rod Whited), Paula Himes and Amy Goff (spouse, Chris Goff); sisters, Charla Combs (spouse, Billy Ray Combs), Yvonna Combs (spouse, Carl Combs) and Betty Wilkins (spouse, Elmer Aker); grandchildren, Heather Thomas, Cami Deitz (spouse, David “Scout” Deitz), Sara Thomas, Robbie Nuttle, Jessica Anderson (Matthew Anderson), Shalea Duesterhaus (Cale Duesterhaus), Kylie Youngblood (Curtis Youngblood), Stephen Whited, Presley Goff, Zakary Himes (Molly Himes), Brayden Goff (Maranda Goff), Auston “AJ” Himes; and 17 greatgrandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, at Derfelt Funeral Home, in Galena.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 25, at Derfelt Funeral Home, in Galena. Johnnie Adkins will officiate. Burial will follow at Gandy Cemetery, rural Galena.
Pallbearers will be Brayden Goff, Zak Himes, AJ Himes, Curtis Youngblood, Bella Youngblood, Nick Wilkins, and Matthew Anderson.
