Kathryn Kay Leonard, 70, of Columbus, died at 4:38 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at her home following an illness. Born February 13, 1952, in Columbus, Kathryn was the daughter of Robert and Patricia (Walker) Duvall. She was a lifetime resident of Columbus.
Kathryn worked several years as a machine operator at ACE Electric, in Columbus. She last worked as a caretaker for SKIL, in Columbus, a position she held for 13 years. As a young girl, she had attended First Presbyterian Church, in Columbus and was active in Girl Scouts. She enjoyed horses, working outside and participating in her children’s activities including working at the baseball field concession stand.
Kathryn and Ai Elvis Leonard were united in marriage January 10, 1970, at Columbus. He preceded her in death November 27, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Bernie Russell Duvall and one sister, Roberta Hammer.
Kathryn is survived by her son, Ai Shane Leonard (Molly), of Cherokee; daughter, Leslie LeAnn Vance, of Atchison; and sister, Georgia Huggins (Harold), of Mount Vernon, Mo.; Five grandchildren, Coty Boyd (Sabra), Ai Chase Leonard (Alex), Dylan Boyd, Nykia Boyd, and Maiah Leonard; and eight great-grandchildren, Ai Tate, Addison, River Sky, Laiken, Wyatt, Devon, Justin, and Levi also survive.
Kathryn was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, in Columbus for cremation. No public services are planned.
