William Edgar “Bill” Toney III, 71, of Galena, died at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at his home following an illness. Born January 3, 1951 in Joplin, Mo., Bill was the son of William Toney Jr. and Dixie (Bender) Toney. His father preceded him in death. Bill was also preceded in death by one sister, Marsha Toney. He had lived in Galena most of his life.
Bill had also lived at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. and Panama, Okla. He entered the United States Navy in 1974 and then joined the United States Army serving from 1974 until 1980. He retired from Lozier Manufacturing, in Joplin, Mo. in 2013. He attended Park Hill Nazarene Church, in Galena. He had also been a member of the Brothers of the Three Wheels motorcycle club. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, traveling across the country and his gun collection.
Bill and Annetta Mae Simpson were united in marriage June 24, 1989, in Grove, Okla. She survives.
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his mother; three sons, Rusty Holman and children David and Brently, Will R “Bill” Toney (Pamela Tackett), and children Jamie, Matthew, and Skyler and David Toney (Samantha), and children, David Douglas, Nicholas, and Courtney all of Galena; two daughters, Christina Whitaker (Lee) and children, Briana, and Tamika of Galena and Melisa Holman (Thomas Bicknell) and children, Jasmine, Jenny, Edith, Justine and Stella, of Quapaw, Okla. His brother, John Toney, of Galena; three sisters, Tammy Duncan (Wanda Shefer), of Baxter Springs, Patricia Richey (Philip) of Galena and Merry Campbell (John), of Portland, Tenn. along with 31 greatgrandchildren (with 2 more on the way) also survive.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, December 9, at Derfelt Funeral Home, in Galena. Pastor Brad Hunt will officiate.
