Jo Ann Morris, 78 of Columbus, died at her home Saturday, December 10, 2022. Born in Deadwood, South Dakota January 7, 1944, Jo Ann was the daughter of Waldimir Dominic “Walt” Rolando and Maxine Elizabeth (Nelson) Rolando. They preceded her in death. Jo Ann was also preceded in death by her in-laws Leonard and Bonnie Jean Morris.
Jo Ann graduated from Lead High School with the class of 1962. She later attended College in Rapid City, South Dakota where she received a business degree. She worked at Maude Norton Hospital in Columbus for 20 years, retiring as a medical records transcriptionist in the mid 1990’s.
Jo Ann and Jeff L. Morris were united in marriage December 30, 1964 at the Methodist Church in Lead, South Dakota. They spent nearly 58 years together living as followers of Jesus. He survives.
In addition to her husband, Jo Ann is survived by David Morris of Joplin, Mo.; daughter, Deanna Calvert of Wichita; a brother, Nelson Rolando (wife, Florice) of Ekalaka, Mont.; sister-in-law, Susan Thomas of Temple, Texas; and four grandchildren, Dane Crismas, Brooke Crismas, Alyssia Morris, and Morgan Morris.
Although no services are planned, Mrs. Morris will be interred at Oak Hill Cemetery of Galena under the care of Derfelt Funeral Home.
