Neva Nell (Smith)Parsons, 85, of Carl Junction, Mo. died Sunday, January 8, 2023, at the Westgate Nursing Center, in Joplin, Mo.
Neva was a homemaker while raising her four children with the exception of working around the Christmas Holiday. After her children left home, she worked as a secretary at different times in offices. Later she and her husband Ted operated an Antique Flea Market. She was a proud member of the Oswego First United Methodist Church, DAR and Fraternal Order of West Eagles Auxiliary.
Neva spent many years researching her family genealogical history, with excitement and enthusiasm.
You would often find Neva with a book in her hand she loved to read. She also loved playing her piano. She loved to travel anywhere you asked her to go. Her quick wit and laughter was contagious especially when spending time with her family.
Neva is survived by her husband Teddie, of Carl Junction, Mo.; two daughters, Cheryl Layne (husband, Mark), of Webb City, Mo. and Toni Parsons, of Oronogo, Mo.; one daughter-in-law, Debra Parsons pf Oswego. Ten grandchildren: Tiffany Correll of Columbus; Talia Stovall, of Pittsburg; Ryan Belcher (Whitney Bailey), Trisha and Mellissa Belcher-Shriver, all of Overland Park; Olivia Parsons, Adam and Karen Layne, all of Joplin Mo.; Josh and Sumer Belcher of Webb City, Mo.; Luke Parsons, of Monterey Beach Calif. and Kyle and Tabatha Correll of Fernandina Beach Fla.; nine greatgrandchildren, Adalyn and Laynie Brock , Jameson Layne, Buddy, Ally, Brady Belcher and Cal, Maris, Mays Stovall.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 16, at the Oswego First United Methodist. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until service time. Burial will follow in the Sherman City Cemetery.
