Using the first meeting of the new year to reorganize and elect officers the Cherokee County Local Emergency Planning Committee elected Richard Matteson as the new president replacing Dale Helwig.
Matteson, works at Jayhawk Fine Chemical plant north of Galena, he had previously served as president of the board.
