Charles Brannon, 69, Joplin, Mo.

Charles Wayne Brannon, 69, of Joplin, Mo. died at 8:21 a.m. Sunday, February 5, 2023, at his home following an illness. Born January 23, 1954, in Johnson City, Tenn., Charles was the son of Vester and Fannie (Whitaker) Brannon. He had lived in Joplin, Mo. for the past six years, moving from California.

Charles served in the United States Army. He was a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles. He was a member of Spring Grove Church, in Galena. He used to teach Royal Rangers while in California. He enjoyed collecting hot wheels and knives. He could play the harmonica, guitar and was a song writer and singer.

Charles’ previous marriages to Jackie Brannon and later to Helen Brannon ended in divorce. Charles then married JoAllene Clark November 18, 1989, in San Pedro, California. She survives.

In addition to his wife, JoAllene, Charles is survived by four sons and a daughter, his sons are: James Brannon (Madelyn) of Baxter Springs, Charles “Chip” Brannon, (Candy) of Brainerd, Minn., Jason Brannon, (Amber Jo), of Springdale, Ark. and Steven Hall (Tammy), of Huntington Beach, Calif.; daughter is Staci Pershing (Jeffrey), of Weston, Wis. Three brothers, Vernon Brannon, of Billings, Mont., Ray Brannon, of Los Angeles, Calif. and Tom Brannon, State of California; two sisters, Arlene Dodson, of Huntsville, Ala. and Janie Mills, of Los Angeles, Calif.; and 11 grandchildren also survive.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Joshua Brannon and two brothers, Ernest Brannon and Gordon Brannon.

Charles was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena for cremation.

The family will Celebrate his life February 19.
