Erma M. Boyes, 85, of Galena, died at 7:50 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, Mo. Born February 20, 1938, in Joplin, Mo., Erma was the daughter of John Wiley Angel and Dimple J. (Poe) Angel. She graduated from Galena High School with the class of 1956. She had been a lifetime resident of Galena. She enjoyed sewing, as well as spending time with her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.
Erma and James “Jim” Boyes were united in marriage June 6, 1956, in Galena. He preceded her in death January 25, 2018. She was also preceded in death by her parents, John and Dimple Angel.
Erma is survived by son, Scott Boyes (wife, Kellie) and daughter, Cynthia Boyes all of Galena; three grandchildren, Andrew Boyes (wife, Desiree), Austin Boyes (wife, Kayleigh) and Ethan Boyes (wife, Lacey); and eight great-grandchildren, Eric Gavin, Rachel, Paige, Colton, Mason, Allison, and Oakley; and several close cousins also survive.
The family will host a memorial service at 11 a.m. Monday, May 8, at First Baptist Church of Galena. Visitation will take place from 10:30 to 11 a.m. on the day of the service, also at the church. Pastor Aaron Polok will officiate.
Erma has been entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena for cremation.
