Shamrock 4-H Club member Samantha Ohmart, daughter of Bub and Angel Tate, of rural Columbus received a premium of $2,900 for her Grand Champion Feeder Calf from Dr. Robert Herron Regional Dentistry. This is the 35th year Dr. Herron has purchased a Grand Champion at the premium auction. There were 12 feeder calves in the sale which brought $15.000 in total premium bids.
The 2023 Cherokee County American Legion Fair and Reunion, came to a close Saturday night, the livestock premiums sale brought the curtain down as usual.
The 4-H, HYA and FFA Market Livestock Auction saw bidders pay $90,750 in premiums to the young exhibitors.
The total sales was slightly ($1,350) below the record set in 2022 of $92,100 in premiums for their efforts in livestock management.
