Sales tax cut began January 1

Grocery shoppers in Kansas may notice a decrease in their spending due to the second phase of a three year program which will eliminate sales tax on groceries.

The sales tax cut will took place yesterday, January 1.

The sales tax will drop from four-percent to two percent, saving Kansas taxpayers about $12.5 million a month according to Governor Laura Kelly.
