James D McFarling, 72, of Galena, died at 4:53 a.m., Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Galena Nursing Center following an illness.
Born January 8, 1949, in Columbus, Jim was the son of Ivan Lester and Lucy Luella (Loucks) McFarling. He was a lifetime area resident. He retired from the Cherokee County Highway Department after 38 years of service. He enjoyed gardening and tinkering with old tractors.
Jim and Carolyn S Spencer were united in marriage October 21, 1967 in Riverton. She survives.
In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by two sons, Lester MCFarling and Chad McFarling both from Riverton; one sister, Sherry Wise, of Pittsburg, KS; two grandchildren, Kristin McFarling and Taylor McFarling; and four great-grandchildren, Brady McFarling, Jasmine McFarling, Kelly McFarling, and Madison McFarling.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m.Thursday, September 9, at Derfelt Funeral Home, in Galena. Pastor Audie Tash will officiate. Burial will be in Quaker Valley Cemetery, Riverton.
